新興国からはじまるグローバルイノベーション
Global innovation from emerging countries

イノベーションといえば、先進国の専売特許のように見なされていた時代は終わりを告げつつあります。とりわけ、i.schoolが標榜するイノベーションへのアプローチ・人間中心イノベーションは、必ずしも先端技術を要求しないため、先進国も新興国も対等の競争環境にあると言えましょう。このような状況を、経営学では「リバースイノベーション」と称し、先進国からその他の国へのイノベーションの奔流に逆流現象が起こっていることを指摘しています。一方、人間中心の観点に立つi.schoolでは、イノベーションは世界のどこからでもはじめられるようになった、その環境変化こそが、今後のグローバル・コンペティションに大きなインパクトを与えるものと考えます。

「冬のシンポジウム」では、JICAの支援の下、インドにて人間中心イノベーションのアプローチを採用し、画期的な冷蔵庫を開発した、Godrej & Boyce社のSunderraman副社長をお招きし、その開発プロセスと未来への展望をご講演いただきます。
また、この講演を受けて、新興国発の人間中心イノベーションをめぐるチャンスと課題を議論する、パネルセッションを開催します。パネルセッションには、Sunderraman副社長に加え、多摩大学大学院の紺野登教授、i.schoolエグゼクティブディレクター 堀井秀之教授が加わります。また、BOP（Base of Pyramid: 年間世帯所得3000ドル以下の貧困層をさす）向け製品開発プロジェクトとして2010年夏にスタートした、See-D Contestのオーガナイザーであり、i.schoolリサーチアシスタントの横田幸信が、プロジェクトの経験を生かした進行役を務めます。

今後のグローバルイノベーションの行方を大胆に占うこの機会に、幅広い未来の可能性を見出し、新たなチャレンジの第一歩を踏み出しましょう。

Innovation is no longer the exclusive privilege of developed countries. The human-centered innovation that i.school advocates does not necessarily require high technology, and it brings equal competition environments to developed and developing countries alike. Business administration has named this situation “reverse innovation”, and it reveals emerging flows that reverse the original streams that used to flow from developed countries to developing ones. i.school, which stands for human-centric innovation, believes innovation can start anywhere of the world, and this environment change will have a big impact on the future of global competition.

In i.school’s Winter Symposium, Mr. Sunderraman, Vice President of Godrej & Boyce, who under the support of JICA, developed an epoch-making refrigerator in India by utilizing human-centric approaches, will give a presentation on its development process and future perspectives.

Following the presentation, there will be a panel session in which opportunities and problems surrounding human-centric innovation originated from emerging countries will be discussed. In addition to Mr. Sunderraman, panelists will include Prof. Noboru Knno from Tama University and Prof. Hideyuki Horii, executive director, i.school, among others.
Yukinobu Yokota, research assistant of i.school, will act as MC, referring to his experiences of organizing See-D Contest, a project based on the development of products for BOP (Base of Pyramd:lower income bracket whose annual income per family is under 3,000 dollars.)
